Balancing Act continues the theme of embracing conflicting views: the artist’s early difficulties of acknowledging his Japanese heritage and his subsequent acceptance of it. Abstract forms jostle with images from old Japan. While the paintings represent an uneasy search for harmony and balance between the two worlds, they are ultimately a celebration of his dual heritage.

Navigation through a city is a personal experience. It varies depending on transportation, routine and lifestyle. Urbanism refers to how people in cities navigate and engage with their environment. It seems fitting for this body of work, which shows O'Neill's interaction with a city, allowing the viewer to see through her eyes.
