What is a Volksmarch? According to tradition and several web searches, a Volksmarch is a non-competitive walk throughout the town, usually about 10 km, where participants meet checkpoints along the way. The ByWard Market Volksmarch is approximately 4.1 km, with many interesting checkpoints including Nest Toys, Glitz Cupcakes, and more!

The ByWard Market BIA is working with The Ottawa Voyageurs Walking Club to bring you the Volksmarch. On 12 Februray 2002 the Rockcliffe Rovers and the Club Volkssport Orléans completed their amalgamation and began operating under the new name of the Ottawa Voyageurs Walking Club.  The Ottawa Voyageurs Walking Club is a member of the Canadian Volkssport Federation which in turn is a member of the International Volkssport Federation (IVV). All club events (walks) are sanctionned by the CVF and eligible for distance and events awards in the IVV Awards Program.

The Ottawa Voyageurs through their history with the Rockcliffe Rovers and Club Volkssport Orléans  have been serving the walking community in Eastern Ontario for 25 plus years.
