Congratulations to the winners of the Giant Pumpkin contest!

Julien Slater guessed the closest to the weight of the first giant pumpkin, which was at the corner of George St. and William St. That pumpkin weighed in at 663 pounds, and Julien guessed 659. He won a free pair of Crocs, meat pies from Aubrey's Meats, a mug from Wears Jake, and a t-shirt from Funk Your Junk.

Wojciech Kulacz guessed the weight of the second pumpkin almost right on! The pumpkin, which was on York St. at ByWard Market Square, weighed 691 pounds. Wojciech guessed 690. He went home with a beautiful gift basket from ByWard Market Square.

This year, for the first time, Tastes of ByWard will include ByWard Market Oktoberfest. On Oct. 23, come to the Market to sample the flavours of Oktoberfest - sausage, pretzels and of course, great beer! There will be great outdoor entertainment, so get out your leiderhosen and head on down to the ByWard Market.

Kinki will offer a special Tastes of ByWard menu. It will include a choice of Thai Me Up soup or Mixed Asian Greens, a choice of four entrées: Takara Ribs, Yoski Pepper Chicken, Nigiri Maki Moriwase, or Teriyaki Stir Fry, and or fruit sorbet or small dessert, all for $35 plus tax.

Comes with a Kinki martini or cocktail of choice!

Lenus Beads, 264 Dalhousie St:

Buy 1 get 1 50% off on regularly priced strands and all chains & bindings are buy 2, get 1 free. They will also offer free beading demonstrations during Tastes of ByWard.

Nest Toys, 204 Dalhousie St:

Find warm, winter woolens from Finland - soft organic merino wool and silkwool blends in newborn to adult sizing. They will also bring in new shipments of wooden toys and other quality goods from Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and Austria during Tastes of ByWard.

Mambo, 77 Clarence St:

Mambo will offer a special Tastes of ByWard menu. It includes your choice of soup of the day or house salad, a choice of four entrées: Bravo Salmon, Que'so Pollo, Las Carnes, or Arroz Lolita, and a fruit sorbet or small dessert, all for 35$ plus tax.

Comes with a Mambo martini or cocktail of choice!
