His paintings are most often compared to those of the legendary Group of Seven and the media often refers to Gordon Harrison as the eighth member of the Group of Seven. Gordon Harrison was highly influenced by one of Canada's foremost artists from Québec, Jean René Richard (1895-1982). Yet, Gordon Harrison has developed his own individual style which he describes as a celebration of colour and 'Impressionism-Realism', where the brush strokes are broad, loose and intense, yet the subject matter remains clear.
